obsession name: Amrita Singh Crystal South Fork Bib Necklace

purchased from: RueLaLa

why the obsession:

I absolutely adore this necklace for many reasons. What I love about this piece (and similarly most of Amrita Singh’s other designs) is the c-o-l-o-r factor. There is nothing more eye-catching this spring/summer of 2012 than throwing on color (or many colors, in this case). And for me, it is definitely an investment piece, since the multi-color allows me to wear it with a ton of options. Statement necklaces like this are an absolute must for any wardrobe. It easily dresses up a casual, neutral outfit and immediately elevates it to being modern and elegant, without looking like you’re trying too hard.

what would I change about it:

Not sure that there is anything I would change with this necklace. It comes in three other colors (other than this multi-color version): blue, red and turquoise, so there’s different options already available. The clasp is not difficult to put on by yourself (nothing is worse than an accessory that takes another person to put on!!!! I get ready by myself!) and the overall quality of the necklace is great. I would say that the structure of the necklace is a little rigid, so you have to pay attention to make sure it’s on straight all the time.

what would I wear it with:

I would definitely pair this with something neutral and simple, so that the beauty of the necklace stands out. A black dress, or a top in a solid color in any one of the necklace’s colors, paired with white shorts — are some good options (although you’d have to make sure whatever you’re wearing has a neckline that doesn’t look weird with such a big necklace). I first imagined this necklace on me with my blush button-up Jason Wu shirt and white shorts (hello summer!), minimalist nude-colored sandals and my cobalt blue Tory Burch Mini-Robinson satchel. A bag paired with this necklace should be understated but goes with the overall color palette of the outfit (no crazy patterned bags that draw attention away from your necklace – always remember one focal point per outfit!!)
