obsession name: Motel Gabby Iridescent Sequin Dress in Black, at ASOS
purchased from: asos.com
why the obsession:
I hope everyone had a nice long holiday weekend. This is usually one of my most favorite weekends, because in addition to hanging out with family/friends, no work, eating, football, napping, and putting up Christmas decorations, most of the stores are ON SALE!!!! (What else do you want in one weekend?) Even the stores that rarely do sales. My favorite Black Friday sale is the ASOS sale, because everything is take additional 20% off. My goal this particular Black Friday was to pick out my holiday dress. I personally think Black Friday is the best time to get your holiday dress, not only for the deals, but also it’s the last weekend before December kicks in, which is already officially holiday party season. This year, I was looking for something classic and warm, given our recent move to Denver. I was browsing through the ASOS holiday dresses when I came across the Motel Gabby Iridescent Sequin Dress in Black and it was exactly what I wanted!!!

obsession name: Alberta Ferretti for Impulse Dress, Sleeveless V Neck Floral Printed Maxi
purchased from: Macy’s stores, or macys.com
why the obsession:
I absolutely love designer collaborations. Right now, I *can* technically say that I have Missoni, Jason Wu and Karl Lagerfeld pieces in my closet, and did not spend thousands of dollars for it (ok, maybe just hundreds). Either way, designer collaborations provide a great way for shoppers to own little pieces of fashion heaven, at a fraction of its normal cost (although, if you happen to get unlucky and have to buy these pieces through eBay – good luck. Some of these hoarders buy the store’s entire stock and resell them on eBay at a way marked up cost). In any case, right now, I’m PARTICULARLY obsessing over Macy’s collaboration with Alberta Ferretti – to be more specific, this sleeveless V-neck floral printed maxi. How lovable is this dress? (also priced at only $99, which if you compare to the fact that a dress from her normal collection is at $1,395 for a short satin dress, is quite a steal) First off, I live in Florida, and let me tell you something – it can get REALLY hot here, especially around the summertime. I feel that this dress is such a great Florida summer outfit – the best time for really flowy, airy outfits. Maxis work so great in Florida because it is the ultimate day to night outfit. You can easily wear this maxi during the day as you walk along beachy shores, but the long lengths make it acceptable to a more formal night setting. I’m also obsessing over the “asian”/”geisha” feel of this maxi. The white-hot pink-orange flowery design reminds me of a pattern that I would see on a kimono. And even though it’s a flowery dress, it’s not a cheesy, cutesy flowery pattern, but definitely feels grown-up and modern. The ruching on the top is just icing on the cake. The only thing that could make this dress better (if that is possible) is a margarita on one hand and if I actually were in the Caribbean on vacation rocking this dress.
