why the obsession:
Holiday parties are in full swing! How many holiday parties are filling up your weekends? This past weekend, hubby and I attended two holiday parties – one for his work and one for our apartment complex. For our apartment complex holiday party, we arrived late enough but early enough to snag a raffle ticket before they started drawing tickets. Much to my delight, I won a $25 Nordstrom Gift Card!!!!! I was so excited… So today I started browsing through their website, the gift card burning in my pocket, when I came across these gorgeous Valentino Couture Bow d’Orsay Pumps. Could there be any more perfect holiday Christmas-sy pair of shoes?

obsession name: Miu Miu Check Bow-Detail Slingback Pump, in Fuchsia
where to buy: Neiman Marcus stores, or neimanmarcus.com
why the obsession:
I don’t think I’ve discussed this in my blog yet, but recently I have been on the hunt for fuchsia/pink heels. I’m not entirely sure why I feel a need to have fuchsia heels, but I feel like spring and summertime always inspires me to be girlier, much more than usual. And realistically, I don’t really see myself sporting anything fuchsia-colored on my feet come fall and wintertime, so heck, that could explain this whole thing entirely. On the other hand, I have also been eyeing check-patterned/gingham clothing items on ASOS recently, and also, I’m not entirely sure why. Maybe the idea of check-patterns and gingham invokes images of outside picnics and fresh lemonade, hence, an overall feel of summer as well. (And interestingly enough, I also don’t foresee myself wearing anything check-patterned or gingham in fall and winter as well). And then I see this pair of Miu Miu Check Bow-Detail Slingback Pumps in Fuchsia, and all of a sudden, my world of fuchsia-check-pattern-hunting makes sense again. I am utterly obsessed with this shoe.

obsession name: Crochet by Me Flat
where to buy: modcloth
why the obsession:
Ummm, HELLO SUNSHINE!!!! I am super obsessed with these yellow crochet flats. First of all, yellow is my most favorite color of all time. (Technically, there was a period in my life where purple was, mostly influenced by novels of Sweet Valley and my love for Jessica Wakefield… but I digress. I always go back to yellow. Yellow and I have had a rekindling, since it was the main color at my wedding…) Anyhoo, I love yellow and bright yellow is part of that color spectrum. Second of all, the crochet work. I tried crocheting as part of a home economics class when I was in elementary school, and clearly I was not born for such handy needlework. (My mom actually ended up finishing most of my projects for me, don’t tell) So the fact that someone (or a machine) has crocheted their way into a totally adorable shoe is just dandy! Third, brights are super in this spring/summer and this is a great way to not let fluorescent colors intimidate you. Adding this pop of bright yellow shoes into your weekend outfit will liven up your look, without blinding people. And that bow? Ahhh, icing on the cake, indeed…
